HIGH – QUALITY TEAK ( Tectona Grandis)

The teak (Tectona grandis) is found all over the world, Southeast Asia, East India, Africa and America. Our teak is grown in 20-50 year old plantations, which means you will get the hardest and most durable wood without harming the environment. It is 100% renewable a product that guarantees longevity!

Teak is lighter than Ipe in both color and weight. Its color varies from yellow brown to dark golden brown, darkening with age. Since it is less denser than Ipe, teak is generally easier to work with.

Many people are looking for real teak wood, as some companies try to stake less quality tree species such as Afrormosia Genuine Teak when is not even connected. When in doubt, the world of the timber refers to the botanical Latin name which is Tectona Grandis. All the teak we sell is from the botanical plant Tectona.

In an effort to preserve the natural resource, this teak is grown in plantation and it is collected in a way to preserve the natural teak trees, as they are today endangered. The heartwood is uniformly golden brown without stains. Grains are usually straight to slightly wavy. The texture is rough, uneven and greasy to the touch, sometimes with a white shiny coating.

Weight ranges from about 38lbs to 43lbs per cu.ft. Kiln-dried teak is for indoor use. (Coarsely chopped firm wood and interior floors) Kiln-dried lumber on the outside will expand. Air-dried teak is for outdoor use. (Exterior flooring) The air-dried lumber inside will shrink.

The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.
